Opera Mini 6 and Opera Mobile 11 just launched

Norwegian Opera Software releases the latest versions of its mobile browsers, with improved tablet support.


As previously announced, today Opera officially launched the newest versions of its mobile browsers: Opera Mobile 11, available for Android and Symbian plus on labs release for Windows 7 desktop, Maemo and Meego; and Opera Mini 6 available for J2ME, Android, Blackberry and Symbian. The difference between the two releases is in the compression that pages receive in the Opera servers before heading to a mobile phone, reducing the data transfer to about a tenth and limiting costs for pay-as-you-go users.

HTC Pyramid: a second photo confirms the qHD display

A new photo, this time frontal, highlights the higher screen resolution when compared to a Desire HD.

Taking a look at the icons in the notifications bar, and counting the rows of icons (six instead of the five of the Desire HD) it’s easy to understand that the resolution of the display will be higher than the usual 480 x 800 pixels, confirming the rumor that the Pyramid will have a qHD screen (540 x 960 pixels). The front-facing camera is also well visible.

Details about the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 revealed

PocketNow captured some image from CTIA showing the details of the new Samsung tablet which will be announced tomorrow.

The pictures confirm that the name is indeed going to be Galaxy Tab 8.9, and evidence the Live Panels user experience on top of the Honeycomb OS as well as the Mini Apps Tray task manager.

2001 – 2010: A Decade of Handsets [Infographic]

The only constant we see in the past 10 years is the leadership by Nokia. The Finnish giant remained comfortably in the first position for the whole decade, selling 3,080,000,000 mobile phones, more than what the three direct followers sold all together! Samsung passed Motorola in 2007 becoming second, while LG reached the podium in 2008.

ZTE criticizes Windows Phone 7

The Chinese phone giant says they don’t plan to release devices with the Microsoft OS.

The ZTE name may be unknown to many, but it’s the fifth most important manufacturer of handsets which are sold and rebranded by mobile carriers, similarly to what Huawei and HTC used to do in the past. Therefore a statement criticizing Microsoft’s work and its mobile OS can be influencial to the global market of mobile phones.

Three UK roadmap shows Samsung Galaxy S2 Mini and Nokia X7

From a leaked brochure of the British operator we find specs and launch dates of several devices, including the new Nokia and Samsung. Real or fake?

Engadget got the images of a forthcoming brochure from Three UK showing a bunch of devices that will form roadmap of the British carrier in the next months. This includes some well known devices, as the HTC Wildfire S and ChaCha, Nokia E7, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, Samsung Galaxy S II and Pro and LG Optimus 3D, but it shows also the still unannounced Samsung Galaxy S2 Mini and Nokia X7. HTC Pyramid: first live photo

The first stolen photo of the next HTC flagship device shows its back next to the current European flagship.

We have only seen its renderings so far, but this is probably the first photo showing the forthcoming HTC Pyramid for real, and from what we can see it looks very similar to the Desire HD adding some cute curves on its back.

Breaking News: AT&T acquires T-Mobile

AT&T and Deutsche Telekom agreed the sale of T-Mobile USA for $39 billion in cash and stocks, making the combined customer base of the new carrier of 130 million users.

As part of the transaction, Deutsche Telekom will receive an equity stake in AT&T that would give Deutsche Telekom an ownership interest in AT&T of approximately 8 percent. A Deutsche Telekom representative will join the AT&T Board of Directors.
