No NFC on forthcoming iPhone 5

The new iPhone 5 is not going to include the NFC mobile payment system, according to UK carriers

When Google introduced NFC in the Nexus S last December, immediately rumors claimed that the iPhone 5 will also include the Near Field Technology. There’s no doubts that Apple is working on it, considering that they hired NFC experts and published some related patents, but according to UK carriers insiders this won’t happen before 2012.

One source said: “The new iPhone will not have NFC, Apple told the operators it was concerned by the lack of a clear standard across the industry“.

NFC is definitely going to play an important role in the next future, but things may slow down if Apple delayes its introduction in its most popular devices.
