The Optimus 3D follow-up has been officially unveiled.

We’re just a few days from the Mobile World Congress, and LG is launching several new smartphones prior to the event itself. We have already seen the LG Optimus Vu and the full L-Series, and today the company made official the successor of last year’s Optimus 3D which is going to be retailed as LG Optimus 3D Cube. The handset is set to be released only in Korea, but there are good possibilities about a future launch in other markets too.

Coming with a 3D video editing feature, the Optimus 3D Cube has a larger display than its predecessor and a thinner chassis. In fact its main specifications are: 4.3-inch IPS display, dual-core 1.2GHz OMAP processor, 8GB of storage, dual 5Mpx cameras, 9.6mm thickness, NFC and an (only) 1520mAh battery.

What’s seriously revolutionary about these latest LG Android smartphones is that, after leaving its customers struggling for a full year, the company is finally releasing handsets running Gingerbread! Yes, we know that the other manufacturers are ready to release Ice Cream Sandwich devices already, but let’s appreciate the efforts LG has put on a year of Gingerbread development.

Update: LG has announced also the LG Optimus 3D Max, which is apparently the very same device but should reach the European and North American markets in the next months.
