LG officially unveils the Optimus Vu

The smartphone/mini-tablet hybrid by LG has been launched prior to the MWC.

We have seen it leak before and already expressed our perplexities about such device, and today the Korean manufacturer made the LG Optimus Vu official, a week before the Mobile World Congress. Rumored specs are confirmed:

1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, 32GB storage, 8Mpx camera, 2080mAh battery, LTE support and that weird 4:3 aspect ratio IPS LCD display with 1024×768 resolution with stylus support. The device is only 8.5mm thin but due to its wide size it would definitely feel strange in the hand and make it impossible to operate with one hand only.

The Optimus Vu is coming with Android 2.3 Gingerbread but the company says an update to Ice Cream Sandwich will follow within three months. Remembering what LG has said at the 2X, Black and 3D launch, we believe you’ll be lucky if the update is available before the end of 2012, admitted you really want to buy this device.

We’re going to see it next week at the MWC, so stay tuned for our hands-on impressions.
